osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT)

Our physicians often use a hands-on technique called osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT) to evaluate and treat pain. Through OMT, joints and muscles are manipulated using gentle pressure, resistance, and stretches in an effort to relieve pain, promote healing, and improve mobility. Home exercises may also be prescribed as appropriate, as stretching and strength building are crucial components of physical rehabilitation.

regenerative injection therapy (RIT)

Regenerative Injection Therapy (RIT) is a family of interventional treatments which activate our innate self-healing process around joints, tendons, ligaments, muscles, and cartilage. Natural, safe substances are injected at the site of the pain to create a mild inflammation, which triggers the body's natural response to regenerate healthy cells and heal damaged tissue. We offer prolotherapy and platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy, two leading types of RIT.

Biopuncture is an injection therapy rooted in holistic medicine. Homeopathic substances, mostly derived from plants and minerals and known to have healing qualities, are injected just under the skin, using very fine needles. These injections are either done at the site of the pain or at correlating acupuncture points. Biopuncture stimulates the immune system to reduce pain, swelling, and inflammation.

Viscosupplementation is primarily used to treat osteoarthritis of the knees, known as “wear-and-tear" arthritis. These patients have a reduced concentration of hyaluronic acid in their joints, which acts as a lubricant for smooth movement between bones. Viscosupplementation involves injecting hyaluronic acid directly into the joint, to reduce friction and pain.

Developed from ancient Chinese medicine, acupuncture is used to alleviate various physical, psychological and emotional conditions, including pain and addiction. It involves stimulating specific points of the body with pressure, heat, and most commonly, inserting very fine needles into the skin.

There is strong physiological evidence to support acupuncture's ability to raise endorphin levels in the nervous system. Endorphins are the body's natural painkillers, and increasing these levels can reduce pain and channel negative energy out of the body. It is also used as a supportive component of substance abuse treatment, minimizing symptoms of withdrawal and cravings associated with addiction.
