COVID-19+Flu Testing for Symptomatic Individuals

UPDATE:
As of May 12, 2023, Valley Medical and Wellness no longer offers COVID-19 testing.

With this year’s Flu Season overlapping with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the similarities between COVID-19 and the Flu (and other other respiratory viruses) can make it difficult to determine what is making you feel sick. Valley Medical & Wellness is offering COVID-19 + Flu testing for symptomatic individuals to help confirm a diagnosis so your doctor can help you get the right treatment plan as soon as possible.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends co-testing for COVID-19 and influenza for someone experiencing symptoms. Check out the FDA Fact Sheet for more information.

Some of the overlapping symptoms of COVID-19 and Influenza (Flu) include:

How do you test for COVID-19+Flu?

Valley Medical Laboratory uses polymerase chain reaction (PCR) testing to detect very specific part of a virus. PCR tests are highly accurate and are a reliable testing method to differentiate between SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) and influenza (the Flu).

How is this test different than the normal COVID-19 PCR Test?

We will still only take one nasal swab sample from you – but that sample will be tested for both influenza A and B, as well as COVID-19 in our lab. You will still receive your same-day test results, but you will now see three test results instead of one! This test should be covered with no additional cost to you by your insurance.

How do I schedule my test?

You can schedule your COVID-19+Flu tests conveniently through our secure portal by going to our website and clicking on COVID-19 Testing. You may schedule your test at any of our COVID-19 Testing locations near you in Burnsville, Minneapolis, and Woodbury, Minnesota! Results are available same-day!
