Minnesota Closes State-Run COVID Testing Sites—Valley Medical COVID Testing Still Available

UPDATE:
As of May 12, 2023, Valley Medical and Wellness no longer offers COVID-19 testing.

The State of Minnesota has closed its remaining state-run COVID testing sites in Brooklyn Park, St. Paul/Midway, Duluth, and the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport. This creates a gap in COVID testing that Valley Medical and Wellness is prepared to fill.

The Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) announced these site closings as it reported that COVID infections and hospitalizations have dropped to their lowest levels since October. Health officials worry, however, that this good news about COVID might be making people lazy in terms of keeping up with vaccinations and boosters. Only 15% of people across the country have received the latest version of the shot.

Valley Medical Still Offering COVID Testing

Experts aren't too concerned about the MDH closing their testing sites as there are many other testing options still available. In response to the state sites closing, Valley Medical and Wellness announced that its three Twin Cities testing sites remain open and ready to take new patients that need testing.

Valley Medical offers highly accurate PCR testing for COVID-19 and influenza at its Minneapolis, Burnsville, and Woodbury clinics. Patients schedule an appointment online then drive up and stay in their cars as a testing expert performs a simple nasal swab. Results are available later that same day.

Since the start of the COVID pandemic, Valley Medical has tested tens of thousands of people for COVID-19. Citizens across the state rely on Valley Medical for their convenient testing and fast results.
